Connect via facebook
We have a facebook group called The Australian CF Hub. This closed group is for Australian adults with CF. We also have a public facebook page @Australian CF Hub that family, partners and friends are welcome to follow.
We understand that not everyone uses facebook. If you have suggestions for other ways to interact online please contact us. |
Join a video chat
We host live video chats every weekend at 4pm AEST. These chats provide a friendly forum to share experiences and chat with others living with CF. They are open to all Australian adults with CF. We have a range of topics (see below).
Login details (Zoom links) are shared through our Australian CF Hub facebook group. Alternatively, contact us to receive login details via email. |
Open Topics
Relaxed chat about anything and everything. No set agenda or topics, just casual conversation. Pour yourself a cuppa and join us online. All welcome.
The open topics weeks are generally organic and we do our best to make sure everyone gets chance to speak if they choose. Sometimes people are just happy to sit and listen, which is fine too. How long are the chats? Meetings are scheduled for up to 1.5hrs (we find people often have lots to talk about and want to stay and chat) but we try to cap at 2hrs. Some people drop in for half an our, it's really up to you. How many people are in a chat? Chats are usually 3-7 people. We do have the option to breakout into smaller chats when numbers increase to maintain the cosy vibe. |
CF Voice
CF Voice is a forum for discussing common challenges and identifying gaps in supports and services. Meetings are held once a month and are open to all Australian adults with CF. It's really important we have a diversity of viewpoints so please don't be shy. Drop in to simply listen, or raise an issue for discussion. Your contribution will make a positive impact!
We see the primary role of CF Voice as identifying gaps and bringing these to the attention of our CF organisations so they can advocate on our behalf. We strive to work collaboratively with our CF Medical Centres, CF Australia and our state CF organisations to improve services, employment opportunities, and medical care for people with CF. |
Fitness with Michael Cahill
Regular physical activity has huge benefits for airway clearance and mental health but maintaining motivation isn't always easy. Michael Cahill facilitates a chat about fitness each month where we can share our fitness challenges and triumphs and motivate each other. We’re all at different fitness levels but that’s fine because this is about staying active and improving our own personal fitness.
About Michael I am 40 years old and was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at birth. I also have CF-related diabetes, which was discovered around six years ago. I am married and have a daughter aged eleven. I am very passionate about health and fitness. Back in 2017 I had massive haemoptysis twice and was not doing well. I decided that it was time to do something about my health and improving my fitness was the first step. Now, two years later, I am studying to become personal trainer. My fitness journey has taught me so much and I want to share what I have achieved to hopefully help others also improve their health and quality of life. I am currently on the triple therapy drug trial. Trikafta, together with all my consistent training, has improved my lung function from a life time best of ~70% to 93 %. While I continue my studies and Health and Fitness journey I would love to share what I have experienced. Hopefully I can help others by sharing what I have learnt along the way. |
